EPL Children’s Enrichment Fund
Gifts to the Children’s Enrichment Fund are invested to provide ongoing support over time, helping EPL grow and reach more children and families across our community.
Libraries are essential for children to develop to their fullest potential.
— Dr. Ruth Collins-Nakai, Cardiologist and EPL supporter
At Edmonton Public Library, literacy is nurtured through play, connection, and exploration. Children learn by doing, exploring, and even making mistakes, without fear. They can be active, while also having the quiet time they need to reflect. Everything is designed to support children as learners, thinkers, and members of a community.
For many families, EPL is an important place beyond the home. It is where curiosity takes root, a sense of belonging grows, and a love of learning begins. These early experiences help set the foundation for success in school and beyond.
Research shows that when children enjoy reading and learning early on, they are more likely to succeed academically, build meaningful careers, and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
What the Fund Supports
The newly established Children’s Enrichment Fund provides steady, long-term support for children and youth from birth to age 15, focusing on three key areas.
Books and Learning Materials
Expanding access to books and early literacy resources.
Programs and Experiences
Offering engaging experiences that build skills and confidence.
Spaces
Creating welcoming environments where families can learn and connect.
What is an endowment?
An endowment is a fund that lasts. Your gift is invested, and each year it helps support library programs, books, and spaces for children and families.
How does it work?
When you give to the Children’s Enrichment Endowment Fund, your donation is invested and protected so it lasts forever. Each year, the income earned from that investment supports EPL programs, spaces, and collections for children and families—today and for generations to come.
To celebrate the launch of our endowment, all gifts to the EPL Children's Enrichment Fund until the end of 2026 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $1 million through the generosity of ECF and other matching donors
